The slowest-rider rule

Every ride goes at the pace of your slowest rider.

Nobody gets dropped and nobody spends the morning puffing at the back. If your group turns out to be quick, I’ll take you further: an extra viewpoint, a bonus trail, another quiet corner of the Garraf. Same time on the bike, more places.

Your guide

Hi, I’m Dave

I grew up on the Isle of Wight, riding the chalk downs whenever I could get out. Now I live in the Garraf, where the hills are limestone, the vineyards reach almost to the sea and there’s a trail for every mood.

I’m a keen, middle-aged e-mountain biker who just loves getting out. Showing people around these hills is the best job I can imagine, whether you’re after a glass of local wine or a rocky descent.

Why ride here

Sea, vines and limestone hills, right behind Sitges

The Garraf is the stretch of coast and hills between Barcelona and the Penedès wine country. On an e-bike you can see a lot of it in a morning.

Sea to hills in minutes

Sitges sits where the Garraf massif meets the Mediterranean. Leave the seafront and within minutes you’re on farm tracks between the vines, with the hills rising behind.

A wine country of its own

The vineyards around Sitges belong to the Penedès wine region. Look out for Malvasia de Sitges, a rare local grape that once filled a quarter of the town’s fields and now grows on just a few hectares.

Proper mountain-bike trails

The Garraf Natural Park is limestone karst country, with white rock, coastal scrub and dwarf fan palms. Hundreds of mapped mountain-bike routes cross it, and its highest point, La Morella, reaches 594 m.

Easy from Barcelona

Sitges is about 35 minutes from Barcelona by train, so a ride fits neatly into a day trip. Hop off the train, ride, then head for the beach.

Why ride with a guide

The map says there’s a trail. The Garraf doesn’t always agree.

The Garraf is crossed by tracks on Google Maps and the bike apps, but plenty of them aren’t rideable any more, and some of the best ones were never mapped at all. I ride these hills all the time, so I know which way actually goes.

Mapped trails get swallowed

Many routes that look clear on Maps have been grown over by spiny Mediterranean scrub. You only find out halfway along, pushing your bike through gorse with no way through.

Storms bring trees down

Storms have blown pines down right across a lot of the paths, and some stay blocked for months. I know which trails are clear right now, so we don’t spend the morning lifting bikes over trunks or turning back.

The best trails aren’t on the map

A lot of the good local singletrack doesn’t show up on any app, especially the rocky lines on the Garraf eMTB Trails ride. You need someone who rides them to show you the way in.

You ride, I navigate

No stopping every few minutes to check your phone, no dead ends and no guessing. You just enjoy the trail, and I make sure we finish back in Sitges on time.

Questions

Questions about our e-bike tours

Do I need to be fit or experienced?

For the vineyard rides and Parc del Foix, if you can ride a bike you’ll be fine. The motor does the hard work on the hills. The Garraf eMTB Trails ride needs some off-road experience, so I’ll check in with you before booking.

What if our group has mixed abilities?

That’s normal. Every ride goes at the pace of the slowest rider, so everyone enjoys it. If the whole group is quick, I’ll add extra places to the route.

Where do we meet?

In Sitges. I’ll send the exact meeting point and a map pin when you book. Sitges is about 35 minutes by train from Barcelona.

What’s included?

A quality e-bike, a helmet, water and me as your guide. The Vineyard Wine Tour also includes the tastings and food pairings at each stop.

What happens if it rains?

If the weather makes riding unsafe, we’ll move your ride to another day or refund you in full.

Can you plan a custom ride?

Yes. If you have a particular corner of the Garraf in mind, or a special occasion, message me and we’ll plan something together.

What should I bring?

Closed shoes, comfortable clothes, sun cream and sunglasses. Bring a light jacket outside summer and a small backpack if you’d like to carry extras.
